Since I've been on IAP I've expotentially increased my knowledge of the world of pens. Not only the how-to, but the many products for building, tooling, and so on. My world of what I once knew as quality has been destroyed!
I walked into Rockler (the once upon a time wood working kingdom of quality and knowledge) this morning to buy a dead center, a few spare transmissions, and find inspiration for making some blanks.
I was informed that they don't carry the first two items on my list, and why would I buy a kit without the corisponding bushings? Not to mention that dead centers aren't made to turn a mandrel anyhow :bulgy-eyes:TBC was completely foreign to the staff.
It looks like my knowledge will now only come from between the various subforums of IAP and its library, and my hard earned cash will have to go to the various vendors and USPS.
Thanks IAP for showing me that everything I ever thought I knew about pen turning was superficial
