I got a phone call today ( they said from the IRS ) telling me this was my final notice and if I DIDN'T call them right back they were going to take legal action. They just had this on TV about how illegal it was and folks were falling for it.

IRS sends certified letters, then every couple months a follow up letter until resolved or legal council gets involved

This scam works because people are scared of the IRS.

I get them all the time usually some one with an heavy accent. Depending on my mood I start giving them a ration of poo just for kicks. I love the one that call and say the have legal paper for me and will be coming by my work and to let my Employer know or they are coming by my house I usually tell I am waiting. If they call often enough and I recognize the number then its Sgt. Roye, Hi tech task force how can i help you and they are gone once in a while one of them will start his pitch and I tell them to come on down and I will accept your papers and give the the police sub station address. Nothing ever happens. Some time if i am really bored I will find their number and call them back and ask where they are. The is one guy who is an actual attorney and he is a lot fun. They just give an old retired man some fun. Same thing with the bogus bill collectors. They don't have your address usually or even your place of employment. I been retired for 12 years my employer has forgotten all about me.
