I have one made of pewter and others that have metal cup inserts for the ink.
With what you're talking about, I don't know if there would be a reaction with the ink. Best way to know would be to conduct some test on what you make.
For a wood inkwell, I think that I would use a liner like glass or metal. But that is only based on supposition, not experience.

Sure, but if it is glass, I can see how much ink is in it, I can see what color is in it, I can see my pen in it when I fill it. Anything else, I would be in the dark That's probablly why you see all glass.
