The new "capless" rollerballs are what's confusing the issue. Used to be a rollerball had lower viscosity ink, more like what's used in a fountain pen, that writes bolder and dries slower than a ball point.
Then they made gel refills, which write almost as bold as a rollerball, dry faster, and don't have to be capped. I like the Parker brand gel refill replacements for ball point pens.
Now several manufacturers have come out with "capless" rollerballs. What is that?[?] Seems like nothing more than a gel refill with a more expensive name.

Gel refills are god's gift to ballpoint pen salesmen (us). You don't have to cap them and it makes your hand-made pen write BETTER than a BIC.
From there on, develop your own sales spiel, mine takes several minutes and sells a fair number of pens.
