While changing my printer cartridge the other day I accidently dropped a piece of the old cartridge on the white carpet in our computer room only to find that it fell ink side down and left a couple of marks on the carpet. I tried acetone, paint thinner, lacquer thinner turpentine and varsol to get the spots removed to no avail. Looking at my automotive use cans in the garage I saw some throttle body cleaner and decided I could not do any more damage so I gave that a try. It took the black ink right out and left no residue or caused any color change. If you run into the same issue I would suggest trying the cleaner on a hidden piece of carpet to ensure that it does not remove the color before using it on the stain.

I don't know if it would work on a permanent market stain but it is an option if nothing else has worked on your stain.

throttle body cleaner is good and also try electronics cleaner which I have used to remove grease from a tie. I think this is all related to what dry cleaners used to use.

:eek: I have never tried this myself, but they suggest fingernail varnish remover found at a beauty shop supply store. I suppose varnish remover is the same if your taking it off your finger nails, your automobile, or in your case the carpet. Did you get to move out of the spare bedroom yet?? Jim S

Frankly, I'm shocked first that you chose white carpet  and second that you jumped in and tried all of those chemicals on your white carpet.

For future reference, dryel or some other dry cleaning solvent will remove spilled toner fairly easily. (Blot, don't scrub and change paper towels often.)

Also I have used starting fluid (either) just be sure to let it dry real well and fumes dissipate or you could have a flash fire............
