Greetings from Nebraska.

Today during a blizzard here in Nebraska I made a PenPal style pen in honor and memory of Peter Hay. It is a Streamline kit (Peter made many of these) in Antique Brass with a Spalted Maple Burl blank. It is finished with CA. I did my best to mimic Peter's unique design. I always enjoyed reading his posts in the forums. He was a true gentleman. We will miss you Peter.

Love the pen and the sentiment. That's a great finish. It's quite challenging to do a CA finish on all those curves without sanding through. (it is for me, anyway.)

I was always amazed how Peter's turning skills could turn a modest pen kit into something special. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your Peter inspired pens, great job!

Nice work Dave. A great tribute to a great penturner, and very nice person.

Seeing your thread reminded me of a pen I turned quite a few years ago, also as a tribute to Peter,
I add the link to it here https://www.penturners.org/threads/white-ironbark-eucalyptus-leucoxylon.164514/
Very Cool. Thanks for the link. Someday I would like to find my way to Australia, but it will probably never happen. I would love to meet up with Casey Giddins (CjG78) and some of the other pen turners from Australia and New Zealand. And I would love to pack my return luggage with some of the amazing timbers from there -- especially some cross cut and diagonal cut hairy oak. We just can't get that kind of stuff here in the USA. I really do miss some of the chat conversations with Peter. - Dave
