Hi there everyone, I was just testing out Google's latest functionality, searching on images. You can drag and drop an image to the search box and Google will perform a search based on some criteria. It's really slick!

So, naturally, I drag on of my pen pictures to it.... Voila! it returns a hit... but wait, it's not my website. I'v just contacted the website at their "contact us" link and will find out their explanation, but it's kind of disheartening. I'm glad they liked it enough and thought enough to use the image, without permission or credit... but I wonder what other images they have used up on their site.

I'll wait until I get some response from them before taking stronger measures....

I'd like to place their url online, but will not until they have responded....
But if they have my picture up there, who else may they have borrowed from?

Last week I updated all my pictures and included a marker on them for easy ID, and I know that once you place anything online, it pretty much is open to all.....

Anyways, other than this, it's been a wonderful Sunday up here in Calgary!

Not from a legal or ethical standpoint. Unfortunately, a lot of people think everything on the web is free for the taking. They're wrong, but you have to be pretty vigilant to find violators.

Thanks for the Google tip!

I think this may be browser dependent as it doesn't seem to work in IE8.

AK

It is browser dependent. Does not work at all in Opera, does work drag-drop on Firefox and it sort of works in IE8 (attached).

That happened to me once. The pen was actually for sale. I didn't say anything beause I was hoping someone would buy it and I wanted to see how the website owner dealt with the problem. The pen was spalted maple and you could never duplicate it exactly.

I cannot believe that someone would be too lazy to take their own pictures of their own pens. I would want my actual work shown and not someone elses work.
