Woodturningz order: ordered 5/17, acknowledged 5/17, shipped 5/17, arrived 5/19 (USPS)

Psi: ordered 5/17, acknowledged 5/17, shipped 5/18, expected delivery 5/30 or 5/31 (Pony Express - slow pony)

Amazon: ordered 5/16, acknowledged 5/16, shipped 5/17, arrrived 5/21(Fedex tried to deliver on 5/19 but we were closed and it took two days for them to try again)

Who the heck do they use for deliveries. I never heard of Newgistics, but I certainly would never buy stock in their company. They are slower than a turtle.

I'm an instant gratification kind of guy. Waiting two weeks for anything this small is just not in my plan.

I wonder if they are using UPS mail innovations. If they are they should stop because from all that I read it has to cost them more in business than they save in shipping costs whoever they use. On a personal note, the few times I have used them have been problem free.

Dave will you post when you get the package? Invariably my packages arrive ahead of the eta stated. PSI states on their website that packages should we delivered in 7 to 10 days. As long as they meet their stated terms I do not think you have a complaint. You do have a choice and if thier stated time is not quick enough you can always go elsewhere. The good old American way of free enterprise. PSI, like most vendors, will ship overnight if you want to pay the extra charges.

Mike I think PSI is using a service like many are doing now that ships items by freight to with a Zone 1 shipping zone and then enters the item in the mail stream. I think this may be a USPS sponsored program that they envision is going to help them survive. In my opinion it is bad news for all.

Jimmy, you are absolutely right about my choices and about their stated terms.
On the other hand, every company we deal with has "stated" terms to cover their backsides if something gets wrapped around the axle. UPS says it takes several days to get from Dallas to me, but they almost always deliver overnight.
Everything I ordered this time would fit in a small UPSP package, for about the same price as what I paid for shipping charge. USPS would have delivered it before now.
If PSI insists on using Newgistics, it will not improve. The only chance we have of changing their practice is to complain loudly and often. I like buying from them; they have a lot of good stuff that I can use. However, I can get most of it from somewhere else, for about the same price. I may have to split up the order but it can be done.
So, taking your counsel, I will vote with my feet and go somewhere else. Maybe if enough people do that, they will see what they need to change.

I missed my chance to be an activist in the 60s. May as well make up for it now. Your nickname fits me better every day.

I really like PSI's website and their catalog, but I have had horrible experiences with delivery and customer service. So, as Old Grumpy suggested, I do very little business with PSI-only what I can't get anywhere else.

Did over $2K in business with them last year, will do less than $300 this year, I hope. Only at $75 so far.

There are SO MANY superior suppliers.

Response from PSI
Newgistics is an "Economy Shipping" OPTION on our website ...
other options include UPS/USPS and Ground Rush (same day for a premium) ..
Newgistics is a day or 2 later than USPS.
We do not "Insist" on using them ... is the customer decision to save shipping expense.

You may want to select the next day air option for almost instant gratification, the least expensive way of shipping tends to also be the slowest.

I order from them regularly and knowing what everyone reports in here, I never take the cheapest shipping method they offer, just for all the reasons everyone complains about.

In reality, it's the shipping company at that low end that's the root of the problem (you get what you pay for), however PSI still has to be taken to task because they continue to use them.

Knowing how it works, I'll pay a couple extra bucks for their expedited handling offered during checkout and usually have my order in hand within 3-4 days, 5 at the most. I've also been gravitating towards larger orders so I can get the most out those extra shipping dollars spent.

Shipping from Woodturnings was $6, delivery 2 days. Shipping from PSI $5, delivery estimate 2 weeks.
Charge me the extra buck, but don't ever ship anything to me by Newgistics.

I order a fair bit from PSI and have learned to get stuff shipped USPS and since then I everything gets all the way across the country in 5 days and only costs 1 dollar more.

Barry - no gripe with FedEx, except when they could not deliver on Saturday, they did not come back until Tuesday. What happened to Monday?

I ordered a few things from PSI on Friday night the 18th and received them today the 23rd. They were delivered by USPS, shipping cost was $8.50. This was my first experience with PSI and it went well...From what I had read on the forum I didn't expect a fast delivery but it worked out fine.

Guys, this is getting REAL old. Please stop with the bashing of PSI when they have met the terms of the service you choose. Threads like this will be deleted in the future. The gripe in this instance is not with PSI but rather the shipping company and is not even a legitimate gripe. PSI may not always be the best but none of us are. If you want something yesterday, pay the extra for quicker shipping but please stop complaining against a reputable company that has met their stated terms.
