Greetings again to all! I have been out of the loop for awhile building a house, unpacking my tools and supplies and setting up a new shop, etc.
During all of this I started having problems with a back injury that I had in Nov. 2002 and had a surgery performed in Mar. 2009. That relieved a lot of the pain but there were still some underlying issues. Started back to the surgeon when that bone-on-bone pain continued and after a CT scan it was found out that my SI joint was hyperextended and had stress fractures in it and was most likely that way when the injury occurred in 2002. Doc said we have to fuse it and after almost 10 years of hurting I told him "let's roll"and last Tuesday (26th) I had the newer Ifuse implants. These are 3 titanium triangular shaped pins implanted in the sacroilliac joint. Our hopes and prayers are that this will be the absolute end to this suffering. Your prayers will help too.
So here I am hobbling around on crutches, dealing with my ADD mind that wants my body to do projects but can't right now, but it's giving me a lot of time to order a new batch of PR, try and get ahold of Curtis for a vacuum chamber and Cactus Juice, picking out blanks for a closed-end cigar pen thats been on my list, etc. Looks like I'll have 8-12 weeks to do whatever I want to.... along with learning to walk again :beat-up: After about 4-5 weeks I should be off the sticks and be able to go out in the shop and start playing a couple of hours at a time. Woo Hoo I can't wait!
I'm trying to learn to slow down in life after 3 years of being on a dead run, find the things that are really important, and immerse my mind into activities and hobbies I like to do, such as pen making.
I'm sad that I didn't get to make the meeting last month for the N. Texas group and finally meet some people here that I have had the pleasure of conversing with the last few years like Seamus, and I see that there are some new ones in the area too! I'm always humbled by the folks on this site not only for the knowledge they share but the friendship that goes along with it.
Thanks!
