I am in sw florida located in a Mobile home Park and someone cut this tree down, and piled it by our burn pit, the wood has some pink lines running through it, so I have a pic of the wood and bark, so maybe someone can tell me what it is. Thanks Neil:confused: I hope I have posted this in the correct area

Possibly pecan, but hard to tell for sure. Like The Penguin said, get some leaf samples if you can. If there aren't any leaves with this wood, look around the area and see if you can find some live trees like this one.

Leaves would help

I'm pretty certain it's not pecan the bark is very distinct and flaky

Since it's Florida wood (could be anything) but my guess would first be Cherry Laurel looking at the bark. Second guess would be Brazilian Pepper...

.

Take a look...I got a Cherry Laurel and a Brazilian Pepper across the street.

It looks like your piece of wood if a fair size.

My first choice Cherry Laurel This tree gets fairly large maybe 12-18" across the diameter.

Now the Brazilian Pepper doesn't usually get as large this one is about 4"...12" would be a big tree...

How about some end grain photos? Preferably some with a 'cleaned up cut'.

I would also suggest that you try to get a photo on www.woodbarter.com (they will probably ask the same question I just did though). We see a LOT of questions like this....it's sort of a challenge!

Scott (it's not a pine tree) B
