I got the new Penn State catalog today. New pen in there called the "Icon". I think it's a pretty cool idea because it uses a cheap bic refill. Looks like an upscale stick pen. Kind of funny though, it comes with an authentic bic pen [emoji846]

I saw those in the new catalog. I'll be interested in what you think!
I'm wondering if there will be enough meat to allow segmenting . They are not expensive, but then on the other hand they are not as cheap as I would expect them to be either.

So, I actually tried this pen kit out as a present for my mother-in-law (who settled into BIC after going deep into pens when she was younger). Attached a PIC of the finished product, which was redwood burl I actually got from another user on here.

My two cents turning wise is that it gives the 7mm flexibility of a slimline without the extra tube. You could make it thicker than what the design profile suggests, as long as you leave some clearance for the cap tail to sit properly (as the ends provide the post), so I think segmenting coming through could be a possibility.
