Note these are the most recent updates to NOAA. My bud on the slope says the local guy just quoted a wind chill of -88!!! That is the first time I have herd Wind chill used on the radio up here. The oil rigs have come to a complete stop!!!!!

Now that is dad-blamed cold. Being a retired meteorologist...Im can appreciate the weather observations that you sent over this forum. What I am having a hard time trying to figure out is the 100% reading in the obs. It can't be humidity as there is a very wide spread between temperature and dew point. What is it?

Warthog from what I understand at temps this cold its hard to get an accurate reading, it is normally relative humidity, yesterday it was an anomaly. The remote camera I use to check up on the northern lights on the slope froze solid last night and this is only the second or third time I have herd of them shutting down oil production due to the cold..........materials and equipment do very odd things at these temps.

On a more personal note the -15 I stood in trying to get some aurora shots last night seemed somehow balmy when I thought of my freinds in the far north........I have a caribou hunt/antler buying trip planed in Nuiqsut for the beginning of March. Really glad I'll be hunting from a freinds home and not the tent!
