It is currently alittle after eight and I have only 3 hrs of sleep since 8 yesterday morn. Why you ask well it is my fault really with coming up with the bright Idea of making about forty pens for our church Christmas dinner. With all that was going on with us the last few weeks time quickly passed by what was 2 or 3 a night turn to well if I can get four then five before long it is the sat before and I only had 11 done. So as soon as I got home from our club meeting. I got to work and then of course it doesn't run as smooth as you would like blew out several blanks. Ca accelerator quick working again. Bought a new jr kit for my pastor only to realize I didn't buy the bushing. Long story short wife called me at 5:30 this morning telling me to please come on in. So I sleep till 8:30 get up and try to finish. Well everyone got their pen but I lost quality in making them in a rush and so late. So I will never try to stay up like I did and sacrifice a good quality pen for trying to get done on time. Now its time to find my bed and crash:biggrin:

Sounds like a lesson learned. Been there done that on some things. I kick myself in the tail each time I do it. Now get some sleep.

Yes, get some sleep!

It's great to see you devote so much time to something you love doing, but going overboard and trying to get too many done too quickly, as you found out, results in less than satisfactory results and can lead to loosing interest in the hobby. I've been there a couple times myself lately so I feel you pain!

Pleasant dreams!

When you (me, we,us) get yourself into a situation like this, we not only see the quality suffer, but also loose most of the fun of it all. Then there is the safety factor. I have done a few pretty stupid things along the way, over the many years in the shop. These "brilliant acts" of mine were often correlated to deadline stress similar to what you describe. Let us all learn this lesson the easy way, rather than the "hard knocks" way.

Ummmm turning with that little sleep is DANGEROUS! Materials spinning at 1000 rpm and sharp tools + the mental effect of drinking a 12 pack of beer is not a good thing! Sleep deprivation can be worse than drinking as far as impaired judgment gose! Get some rest but unless you want to be missing didgets like me, don't do that again.
Your personal saftey is far more important than the quality of a few pens!
