I have a shopsmith and I think this might work?http://www.harborfreight.com/2-inch-mini-lathe-chuck-with-mt-2-shank-4486.html
Is the SS headstock not threaded?
The headstock just has a shaft that the jacobs chuck attaches to with an allen screw. I do have one of the harbor frieght drill chucks for the tail stock. I just need to find a way to hold the blank.I assume you will put this in the tailstock?
A better solution would be a collet chuck for the headstock and use the tail stock for the drill chuck. You can get an adapter for your shopsmith drill chuck that will convert it to a 2mt. Its a litle more expensive, but the one you pictured looks small and not enough gripping section.

They make an adapter just for this. Penn State and others sell. It has a 1" x 8 thread for the collet chuck (or other chucks) and a 5/8 hole with set screw for the SS headstock. Is the SS headstock not threaded?

I attach my collet chuck to the headstock by threading it onto the headstock threads. Could you somehow make or have made, a male threaded adapter to attach to your headstock spindle the same way your jacobs chuck does? In my mind, there is no better way to hold a blank for drilling than a collet chuck.
That looks like it will work along with the adapter. Then I have to mount the drill chuck in the tailstock. I guess the blank will have to spin instead of the drill bit. This is one of the handiest tools I've bought yet. But it shows that they're out of stock.
