I Took a Flyer Today!

I was poking around in the $2.00 Cancer fund box at EdenSaw Woods today and ran across the non-descript looking chunk of wood you see under the pen. Lou (the guru at the counter) said he thought it was Jatoba (Brazil Cherry), so I had to try it. Hey...it was only two bucks for at least 10 jumbo blanks...and a pen kit...and some time...

Anyway, I thought it came out interesting...and supposedly it will darken into a deeper red with exposure. I think I crosscut the blank, so the next one I will cut with the grain just to see what shows up.
