I've been playing around with some finish combinations. My goal was high quality, gloss, beautify the wood and...fast!

I'm sure some of oyu have already tried this combination, but just in case:

Step 1-DNA to get off any crap and clean the wood from sanding and any residue/discolouration from the bushings

Step 2-BLO at highest speed possible

Step 3-I used Chestnut friction polish that I got from England (I'm sure Mylands would work just as well). I put a little on a paper towel, I really like the Viva paper towels, almost like cloth, so, I put a little on a paper towel with the lather going as fast as possible. I tough it to the wood really fast and then put more on the paper towel and hold on the wood until the shine pops. I find by doing a quick touch before applying the full amoujnt, I get a better finish.

Step 4-Kiwi neutral shoe polish, again at the highest speed possible.

I have to say, it looks as close to CA as I've seen and I'm really impressed by it.

I can't photograph pens for love nor money but the photo below sjhows a series of pens with this finish and one with CA finish, which is the snakewood pen. If nothing else, you can see that all of them have a similar look to the finish.

Let me know your thoughts or suggestions to improve.

That's a good looking and fast finish. Just be aware that it isn't a long lasting
finish. It will wear quickly compared to CA or polyurethane

It is just a polish or wax so it will not stay that bright very long. But if you like it go for it. How to improve, learn a CA finish or a poly finish for durability.
