I needed to change the blade for the first time and it's obvious that I don't know what I am doing. I bought it new and the blade was already in place. Unfortunately, it did not come with a user manual. I have a friend that I can have come over, but that won't be until Saturday:(

There should be a 'knob' under or over the upper wheel that you lower the whell with to loosen the blade. Slide th eold one off, put the new one on and raise the wheel back up god and snug.

Since this is new to you---Paul is right but lets ad a few things---unplug the saw----make sure the teeth are pointed the right direction----after the blade is installed spin the top wheel by hand and make sure it is going to work.

What make bandsaw is it? Try contacting the manufacturer for a manual. I will agree, the first time can be frustrating. Adjusting the guides, getting the wheels co-planar, etc. is a learning curve. Wait for the friend.
 
Thanks everyone. It's a Jet and I have the direction of the blade fine and I understand the tension knob, but the blade comes off when I turn it by hand and I can't figure how the blade should travel in the upper blade steady.
 
Jet has a very good library of downloadable PDF manuals. I recommend you go to their site and download your specific model. Even if you have a friend over to help the manual will help.
 
Go to JETTOOLS.com and log in.. you can do a search for manuals on their equipment.

Like Cav, I've downloaded most of my manuals, even though I have a file cabinet with all of them filed away.. some of the equipment for the manuals I no longer have.

You might look to make sure the blade is tracking in the middle of the tire.. or that the tire doesn't have a lot of gunk on it that causes the blade to slip sidways.. then make sure you have the proper tension on the blade and the guides are lined up on the blade.
 
I agree to goto Jet tools website. I know changing blades is
a pain, I have to change about every week. Perhaps someday there
will be a bandsaw that is much easier to change blades[:)]

There should/might be a knob in the back of the unit that makes one of the wheels tilt one way or 'tuther. That is what adjusts for centering the blade.

Now that I read the manual, I think Frank has the secret to all my issues here. I turned an adjustment knob thinking it was locking the whole wheel adjustment.

Glad we could help. That's what forums like this are for, to share experiences and help. The Jet is similar to the Grizzly (I have a Griz) and I surmised that might be the problem. Don't feel bad, I went through a cussin', hair tearing, spitting learning curve with mine when I first got it. With time you will become very fond of your bandsaw, mine is my #1 'go to' tool in my shop.
