I blew up 2 blanks last night. Well 3 if you count attempting a second turning on a Mesa that I didn't like the shape of the pen. I guess I gotta get some keychain kits. The surviving half of the euro and slimline can become key chains.

I feel your pain. I just finished an etui (needle case for non-crossword puzzle lovers ) for my sister. Used Old Mesquite. Had to make the top three times as it is so thin. Memo to self, twist off the top, do not squeeze it!

Make sure you are getting enough glue coverage on your blanks, use sharp tools, and slow down. Everything will work out. Jim S

I have to be honest, I think in all the years I have been turning pens I maybe blew up 2 or 3 blanks. You learn from your mistakes at least you better or else you can get hurt.

Why do you think they blew up??/ Did they both fail the same way and in your opinin is this your fault??? What type of blank was it??? Were you in the line of fire when they blew up???

I find when I start messing up that I am getting away from the basics and trying to be to "fancy" w/ the cut or pushing the limits of tool.
