I just received my new PHDESIGNS pen vise. It is very solid and well made. I look forward to years of use.

I've been thinking about making something like that for a long time. Looks like angle aluminum (which can be cut on a TS, BS etc.) and some nuts n' bolts. I have some old wooden screw clamps, forget the propper name for them, but they have the screws that are threaded both ways. Anybody tried making their own?

A vise is good, but I'm more interested what that blank will look like once it has been turned.

Your a lucky person.

I was offered one, but had to put it on hold due to lack of funds. I will get it when he does his next batch.

Nice Vise. I have the same one sitting in the shop, but I can't use it. It's a gift so I figured I would give it unused but it is killing me, I should have ordered 2 of them. I will continue to drill diagonal holes and that way I always have plenty of kindling.

Awww, Johnnie! You shouldn't have! Man, what a guy, I tell you...who says Marines don't have big soft hearts? [:p]

Tell you what, since you're such a good friend, you can use it a couple of times before you send it over to me, you know, just to work the bugs out. Don't get carried away, though! [}:)]:D

You have my current address, right? heh

Karl, I really would like to test this thing and work out any bugs, but it may take me years to do that. So I will have to give the gift the way it is and not touch it or I may not part with it. I will make sure that you get whatever it is that you have coming to you though.[}:)] I want you to go and sit by your mailbox and wait for it to get there.:D Should be along soon.

*shivering uncontrollably as he watches a crumpled sheet of newspaper roll by in the frigid breeze like a lone tumbleweed in the stifling silence of an arid and wintry desert, the expectant and ruggedly handsome pen turner patiently crouches beside his mailbox, eagerly awaiting the simultaneously swelling sounds of the scratching of tires over gravel and the low grumbling wheeze of the worn out engine in the postman's jeep.

Like a withering candle in a ghostly waltz, a weary light appears above the clatter-toothed woodworker's head, slowly undulating upward through the swaying branches of the doomed box elder tree, bringing with it both an eerie glow and the sudden realization that he's been duped again.*

Heyyyy...wait a minute...how does he even know my address...? WHY THAT...! [V]

heh...can you tell I been reading Koontz?
