Went to the woodworking show today which I had said last year was going to be my last year but I just had to. Went by the CraftsUSA booth because I just had to. Went inside and bought a 3/4" skew because I just had to. Went past the Carter booth because I just had to. Wound up buying an upgraded fence for my bandsaw because I just had to. Went past the Arizona Silhouette booth because I just had to. Stopped and watched Barry Gross demo some pen turning because I just had to. Got myself out of there before I spent too much money aon more gizmoz and gadgets because I just had to.

Stopped by here to pass this on because I just had to.

I think a lot of us are like that. Just going to look. Not getting much. Walk out with arm loads of stuff. :)

I'm going to the show in Columbus on March 3rd during the early afternoon.
Because I just have to.

The last 2 years we went to the woodworking show EXPECTING to spend a few hundred easy. So I know the feeling!

Unfortunately they are not coming back to Charlotte :(

Nice to know someone, somewhere still has wood shows. I think most of ours in Canada have disappeared. There haven't been any in BC that I know of for about 4 years or more!

no pics didnt happen, you know the drill! ......cuz i just had to say it!

For Scott. Bought some nitrile gloves and some wood glue but not in the photo. Will have to take my word on that one. Forgot to include them.

John, you went to a wood show and we only get one picture, and, it's not even of the show. What's up with that?
Len

The photo was just proof I was there because Scott asked. Not much to take photos of at the show. Sorry but that is all you get:smile:

John, that picture doesn't prove that you were at the show, now if you had a picture of yourself entering the building or some of the interior displays, that would be proof. How do we know that you didn't just find those two tickets and ....., just kidding John. I believe you were there, I just find it hard to believe that you didn't take any pictures, to share with us.

Sorry. Now there are 2 days left on the ticket so if you would like you can come and get them and go to the show.

They no longer any in California.

I am not sure how much longer they will be here either because it seems every year less and leass vendors because of the rediculous prices they charge for a booth space. To pay $12 for admission and to see the same old things every year does turn customers away. Not what it used to be but then again what actually is any more these days. I still go because I do pick up some everyday needed items and get some good deals on them. Can I get them on line, yes but shipping is the issue there. So I guess it is a wash. Will see what happens next year.

Hi John. Sorry I missed you. My club (Hudson Valley Wood Turners) has a booth there and the guys were giving me lessons on bowl turning. If I had known, would like to have met you after reading your posts and seeing your work. +2 - at least - on buying stuff. Going back again today. If anybody else is going, please stop and say hi. We're near the entrance and wearing blue shirts w/the club name. Russ

Charlotte?

they aren't coming back to HOUSTON.

I believe that there will be someone else Starting a wood show in Houston!

I saw that and until the last minute addition of the Fort Worth Woodshow I was considering a road trip to the new one.

The Woodworking. Show will be in the DFW (Tx) area March 8 weekend. Thru website has the Ft Worth convention. Center as the location.
Do a good turn daily!

Vendor attendance at "The Woodworking Show" had shrunk so much in the last 5 years - it was hardly worth going for one day...never mind going for 3 days.

the new show in Houston: http://www.texaswoodworkersshows.com/ - well, we'll see how turnout is for that one. In the past, Gulf Coast Woodturners Association has had a space at "The Woodworking Show" where we had several lathes set up and our members turning/working on pieces. I don't know if we are doing that at the new show.

As mentioned, we're losing the shows in Canada, too. But were there any really good deals there? How were the prices, aside from saving on shipping (which trust me I know is a big deal).
