I had been wanting a guitar for a long long time and never bit the bullet. Well my amazing wife decided to make our first christmas together a special one. She's also smart and set me up with lessons! Here's some quick pics of what she got for me. I'm researching what all the materials are but (and this is my best guess thus far) but it's spruce top, koa back and sides, mahagony neck, rosewood pickup, and abalone inlays.

Nice Ax! I love the guitar. I do play myself. Yes, my wife let me have a Les Paul years ago. Still have it and still play it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Love that Washburn!

Congratulations, on both the gitfiddle and bride. It sounds like you may be as lucky as I. Treat her good and make her your very best friend.

Nice guitar and gift. You are right, so far on the materials, except maybe the back. If. Remember correctly from the luthier days, Washburn used a quilted Honduran mahogany on the sides and back. It looks "red enough" to be Honduran but I can't see the grain.

That IS a solid Canadian Spruce top, not laminated like so many guitars of today. It will sound better and better as each year passes.

You are indeed, lucky.

I just went to my luthier book of materials. If it is a d5 series(d525e, etc). It is curly maple back and sides. Beautiful axe and one of the better playing and sounding guitars out there. Washburn has long been know for thier exotic hardwoods and "playability"

I like it !!!
