Hello All:

I have a gripe.....About 2 weeks ago, I posted a give away of two envelopes of cigar bands. Very little or no value, but each envelope had about 20 bands, and I took care of the stamp as well. I had about 10 PM's right of the bat, and gave the bands to the first two posters. I replied to the first two that they got them, and to all others that the bands were spoken for. I added that to my post as well so as to stop any further PM's. One of the recipients thanked me ahead of time and was surprised.....the other recipient, no thank you, no contact at all. And no thank you even after they received them. It is not a big deal, but my Mom and Dad taught me (and I am am teaching my two boys as well) to thank those that do something for you. Maybe we are living in a time of entitlement and not caring what others do for you.......whew.....I feel better. Thanks for letting me vent.

Glad you got that off your chest! I would be a little peeved too, but that just tells me to look out for that person the next time you go to give stuff away. It is unfortunate that people are like that.

It is a sorry sign of our times. I run an inner city community center and we teach our kids manners. Guest always comment how polite our kids are. I tell them because it is what we expect AND demand of them. It is what the parents should be doing but they don't. I truly think everyone's stress levels would be cut in half if people got back to saying please and thank you.

Happens to me all the time at work. Guys come into the shop, ask a favor, then act like that was part of my job. Every once and a while though, someone brings me a coke or another kind act, so it all works out. Hang in there, thankfully, there are a whole lot of good people out there.

I tend to like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he didn't receive them?

If not, perhaps it just slipped his mind - that does happen from time to time. I don't' want to cheapen your justified grief at not getting a thank-you (Heck, I get a bit upset when someone I let in to the car lane ahead of me doesn't wave a thanks!) - but sometimes people just forget.

Hopefully your note will remind everyone that thanks are always welcome! (and the reason why I ask people to always thank the vendors that gave them a Bash prize with a note or letter...)

Hopefully you'll receive a letter in the mail with thanks, Don - people might surprise you! (maybe I'm naiive, but I still have faith in the human spirit!)

I love giving and receiving! Both require a thanks!! Having yet to run across that problem here, your pain is felt...it's happened elsewhere!

I was almost bowled over Saturday evening at a local restaurant when a young man reached the door well before me, stood there and held it open for me to enter. Yes, he did receive a 'thank you' from me. Good manners must receive good manners. There are people in the wild who do still have manners. Now about those wearing hats inside an eatery! Good thing my Granny is not still around! OUCH! I still remember trying that.

I received one of the envelopes of cigar bands and I thank you in my original email. I am sorry that I did not send another thank you after receiving them but I did not and that is my fault. I just received them 4 days ago and they are very nice and a belated thank you again.
