I have been telling my wife for awhile I would make her a new cutting board. Well we were in BJs and we seen this for 15 bucks, it's 1.75 thick and 12 x 18 overall. I couldn't even buy the wood for 15 dollars. She is happy and I don't have to make a boring old cutting board.

I found one similar to that in a second hand store, cut it into strips and turned it. Made Harry Potter wands for the grandkids.

I have an unfinished one I bought at a junk shop for $2 about a yr ago. Was gonna cut it into pen blanks but everytime I picked it up I just couldn't bring myself to cutting it up. Will probably just put a nice finish on it one day. Lol

I was looking for bamboo blanks and couldn't find any, so thought about where I'd seen bamboo used. A quick trip to the local Walmart and there was the perfect specimine for $15. I brought it home and introduced it to my table saw, and now have 20 or so very nice bamboo blanks to work with. I will have to admit I was a little uncomfortable taking a perfectly good, brand new item from the store and (technically) destroying it, but that feeling completely disappeared after the first pen was made with it. The pen was much prettier than that cutting board.
