decided a couple weeks ago to spend at least an hour doing shop cleaning and scrap removal once a week.

Old ply, OSB, and small scraps that I didn't think would be of any real use went to the fire pit for cremation.

Two 45 gallon bags of debris and sawdust. OUT

Moved a couple old kitchen cabinets and reorganized a bit.

Far from finished, but I can walk through again at least.

No pics yet, but soon.

Need to finish the bamboo ceiling i the main area and figure out what to use for the rest when I run out of old used flooring.

I am still cleaning up/reorganizing my shop (well, section of the garage) and while it may seem like a hopeless endeavor because it will be a total mess soon enough once again:wink:, at least I was able to find several tools, about 50 blanks and a few kits I knew I had but could not find  So a clean up once every other year or so isn't such a bad idea.

Believe me, I've seen the standard set for a "clean shop" (guy over on BT3Central), Mine will NEVER be that clean.

I'm trying to get it to the point where I can build walls to segregate the different work areas (gotta remember that mine is a 900 sqft basement) and contain the dust to certain areas. And also be able to heat more efficiently during the winter.

Since you just cleaned did you notice this problem? I have decided that junk breeds in the winter. I would swear that my shop was clean in the fall. Now there is junk EVERYWHERE. This weekend I have to clean.

The only time my shop was clean was before I moved in..:) I would love to be able to devote some time to clean and organize but that a a pipe dream.

With time being so sparse in the shop it is hard to devote real time to cleaning. I just did a slight over haul by pulling everything but the tools out of my shop and trying to fit it back in the shelves. The floor is slowly filling with boxes and misc scrap that I can't seem to bring myself to trash. Congrats on the clean up, I hope the results last longer than mine did....

I use to hate to do paper work and would let it pile up until I was buried and had to spend a day or so catching up. I was conmplaining to a friend how much I had to do and his suggestion is just do 15 min a day then give my self a reward. I tried that and you know what I had no more piles of paper work and I don't hate it anymore. I do the same in my shop 10 to 15 min before I can start on a project IT WORKS!!!

Interesting idea...what kind of reward do you give yourself? Maybe a new lathe?

Following with interest as my several work and storage areas you have to be 6 foot and 2 inches and walk in the footholds to manouver your way around. I read if you put away ten items going in then ten on the way out well I set myself up to 50 each way.

To me it feels like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic something about that interesting however I will persevere.

We are coming into our cold time now plenty of more reasons to procrastinate.

Kind regards Peter.
