Ok another computer question. It seems I have lost the ability to spell check on this computer. I did nothing to shut off. I went into settings and clicked on typing and noticed all spell check buttons were set to the on position. I clicked off and back on. Then restarted the computer but no luck as you cn se. Help please. It is on all forums and even emails.

Bob I followed the instructions I get for windows 10. It tells to go to settings and find typyng and click yes for all spell check stuff. I signed on to get another year of updates for 10 so do not think that is it. This just did it on its own. I turned nothing off. In that window they tell you to look all buttons are in on position.

Any forum and email I ever wrote had it. So believe it is a Microsoft thing.

Which browser do you use?

FireFox - under Settings, there is a check-box to turn on/off "Check your spelling as you type"
Google Chrome - under Settings, there are buttons to switch on/off "Spell check"
Microsoft Edge - under Settings, there are buttons to switch on/off "Use grammar and spell check assistance"

Edge. I see them and all are on. Nothing is working. Guess I will have to do without.

What a pain. In Windows 11 there is a "troubleshooter", I think one of the options is "keyboard" - that might find something.

It could be something that broke in a recent Windows update - the next update might fix it.

There's also a utility program to perform a "system file check" - you have to open a Command Shell (which in the old days we called a DOS prompt) using the "Run As Administrator" option, then enter the command

sfc /scannow

That will identify and repair any broken system files.

Good luck!
