I went to a house today to look at a plumbing problem and after the lady was walking me and my little girl through the woods to look at there pond. Well I made mention that a certain tree would good as a pen. My wife had a couple on here and the lady said she was going to a b'day party tonight and wanted to but the seirra with cherry burl for the present. Well I told her since they were giving me the plumbing job she could have it for 25. So I have officially sold my first pen. It does feel good that someone is willing to pay for a product that you make.
I am an official pen seller now.

WTG Sumterdad. I sold my first SlimLine pen & pencil set a couple of weeks ago and I am still on Cloud 9. Yesterday while delivering potato chips to a store (my main business) the manager remarked on the Mesa I carry as my work pen. When I told her that I made it, she was impressed and asked about buying some gifts. Well I happened to have 3 Slimline sets in the truck that I showed her. 2 rosewood and 1 bamboo. She could not decide, so she took all 3.

I consider all my sales a bonus just because it's nice to recoup some of the money spent. The first sale of one's creation is a great confidence boost, and makes future sales easier.

Yea it is hard to believe that I only started turning in sep and here it is 3 dec 2011and sold my first one. My little girl picks on me cause I try to carry a few of my pens out and show them off when I can. I always said you never know who might want to buy one. Wow it feels good to sell one.:biggrin:

In my house all pens are for sale, except the ones I got in the PITH and other exchanges... those are my treasures... or one I've made for my wife... they are her treasures.

There are books that you can keep a dozen with you. I have made a delivery to someone at a car dealership, and of course I brought my book with a few pens in. I ended up selling 3 others and getting an order for another.
My self rules are ALWAYS have a few samples on you, and the boxes/bags/ect you put them in when someone buys them. If someone wants to buy the pen you are using, replace the ink, and drive on. The way I look at it is simple; I can always make myself a personal pen, and that impulse customer may not want one when you come back.
