Hybrid Tec Pens

Three hybrid blanks from the blank makers at Exotic Blanks using Tec Pen hardware.

My experience this year has found that a lot of people like the movement on a bolt action pen but don't always want the look of a true bolt action. The Tec Pen seems to address that by using a different look and clip while still retaining the bolt action.

Hybrid blanks are always favorites for me to make. Two of these went to my niece and a dear friend's daughter for their respective college graduations and the third to a coworker.

I think the only thing I don't like about these pens is the opening where the bolt comes to lock in. I wish the metal was a little longer so you wouldn't see the interior of the pen.

All are finished with GluBoost and Dr Kirks polishes.

They look great! I'm with you - even as a firearms enthusiast, I often feel like the 283 variations on "bullet pen" available with the bolt action mechanism are kinda gimmicky. Using one is, whether you intend it or not, something of a political statement. They're cool pens, but having at least one kit option that uses the cool mechanism without dressing it up in gun culture is a good idea.
