Has any one ever used one of those HUT Rout-A-Pen? If so what kind of results did you have? Does any one know where I can pick one up? That’s if it works as nice as the pictures show.

Fred ... what's a Rout-A-Pen? Is there a link to it?

Hi Fred, the device looks a pretty good idea, however, it seems very limited for the money. I would like to show you some simple samples of what this cannot do, but for similar money you can do so much more. One of my favourite tools is a compound table ( xy table )
You can attach it to your lathe and mount a router / drill / grinder / dremel etc on it. I can't recommend getting one, highly enough.
In the pic below from left is a tapered octogan. The middle one is a tapered triangle to the tip with an opposing tapered triangle to the c/b. The third is a gentle hexagonal spiral in truestone ( this will need a spiralling attachment as well)
I don't know how to add a link to show you a supplier, sorry.
You will never regret getting one, I promise!!!!

First of all awesome pens
Secondly by chance would you have a pic to show your lathe setup that you use to turn such awesome awesome looking pens
I am very interested in seeing how you turn these providing you don't mind

Fred, sorry, I seem to be stealing your thread[:I]

Chris, I made these pens just before joining IAP, so didn't take pics. But there are other pics showing the setup in my albums. Feel free to PM me if you want any more info, and of course I don't mind. Any info I can share here is nothing compared to the stuff I've learnt from IAP members[:D]

Fred

I too have seen the HUT Rout-A-Pen item awhile ago but thought it seemed limited in what in the kits it was able to work with at the time.

I had actually forgot about it until now when you brought it up.

It does seem simple enough to use and maybe with some thought it can be made to do other kits.

I would like to see what others can do with this product if someone here has it.
