I was working on an emperor jr. tonight and while I was doing a CA finish I was thinking about a some posts on BLO/CA. Since I am in San Antonio and the humidity is fairly high I have not used any BLO because I was worried that it would take too long to dry out so I would nto get any cloudiness under the CA.

My curiousity is that if I do a couple coats of CA and then use the BLO or DNA in between coats will I be safe?

I apply BLO, buff it out and follow with thick CA almost immediately afterwards. Never had a problem and humidity is as common here in east central Illinois as cornfields and soybeans!!!!! I don't see how BLO will help you if you have sealed the wood with CA, but hey, I'm a learnin' to!!!

Can't comment on this since I haven't tried it. What worked great for me is to finish turn and sanding a piece, apply BLO, wipe off as much as possible and let it dry for a few hours to a day. Apply CA finish after that and the wood pops much better.
