This year we will experience 4 unusual dates...1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11 and 11/11/11......AND go figure this out...

Take the last two digits of the year you were born plus the age you will be this year, it will equal 111......

It doesn't work if you were born after 1999
Had to be born in the last century for it to work. And, it probably works for every year i.e. you would have seen the same thing in 1911 for people born in the 1800's and next year the total will be 112. Some folks only consider 11/11/11 as the unusual date the others having a 0 like 01/01/11 and 01/11/11 and 11/01/11.

How about 11 minutes after 11 on November 11, 2011?

11:11 on 11/11/11/

It doesn't get any better than that. Well except maybe back when we thought 1961 was an usual set of numbers.

Not really spectacular. You're counting from a common point (1900). It is now 111 years after 1900. The year you were born (say 67) plus you age (the number of years since you were born...44 in this case) will equal 111.

Look at is this way. The FULL year you were born (1967) plus you age (44) equals Current Year (2011), as that's how we count. The only thing that's different is that THIS year, if you subtract the 1900, you get three 1's.

Next year, the same calculation will equal 112 (current year - 1900). Suprisingly (not at all) the year of your birth plus your age will alway equal Current Year - 1900 (unless, of course, you were born after 2000, in which case Age plus Year born = Current year - 2000).

And, btw...the new millennia actually started in 1/1/2001.

that started 'lots' of conversations new years of 1999...
and i still remember being on call newyears eve of 2000..
waiting for the world to collapse because of the Y2K bug 8>)

And, btw...the new millennia actually started in 1/1/2001.

Glad to see someone that understands how the calendar works and that when the millenia started !!!!

Also the birthday thing will not work until you have your birthday this year. For instance, I was born in 54 but I am only 56...that adds to 110. I will have my birthday later this month. Once I turn 57 then the math works.

seconds also

You can also add the 11th second after th 11th minute after 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of thr 11th year.

And next year you can do it with the 12th....but after that it goes away for awhile.

maybe....

That would be subject to a lively debate is some circles....based upon there being no year zero the first 1000 years ended in 1001 but that's not the only thing you can base the new "mellennia" on. for instance once can easily say the 1st decade had only 9 years 0001 to 0009 and after that they ran from 10 to 19,20 to 29 etc. One could also say that the current mellenia is all the years beginning with 2. Arbitrary (but that's what they did) but there's nothing wrong with doing that, you can start the next thousand years from today if you want to....

Enjoy it while we can... Next year we'll get the 12's and after that I don't think any of us will be around when it rolls around again...

I'm not reallly worried about 2012, but 2013 is a different story.

Just imaging, a year of FIFTY-TWO 'Friday the 13th's.
