I recall seeing a post by Ed telling how he would prefer messages to come to him. I can't find it now, and am hoping to get an email reply from him to a msg of mine, but no luck yet.

No a great immediacy, maybe I'm just expecting too much!

Actually, it depends!!

If the question pertains to Exotics and you want me to DO something, send it to sales at exotic......, I flag it and usually it will get done.

I get MANY PM's here on IAP, which I also answer. But, when I have a window of time to DO things, IAP PM's are not indexed and I don't remember WHO wants something done, just that I am supposed to be doing it.

Then there are those who message me on FaceBook, the Exotics site. Some message me on MY Facebook page---I have not visited this page in at least six months.

When I was in my 30's and 40's I could remember and categorize the tasks. At this point, if they are all in our "sales at Exotic....", they are most likely to be handled.

When I read the email, the ones that can be answered in a few short sentences get handled immediately. Those that take a more wordy response are the ones that will get delayed. Of course, I also answer the phone. In 5 minutes on a phone call, an awful lot of words "happen". I speak faster than I type.

Remember, as well, there are comments on many of the orders---we handle those before we can ship the order, so they DO take precedence over other communication.

So, the short answer--I wish I could answer everyone immediately---But I don't. I have many favorite sayings---perhaps my "most favorite": Time is the great equalizer--we all have the same amount of it. Yet, Bill Gates has used HIS a lot better than I use mine. But I do strive to make the most of every minute. Writing lengthy email is seldom the BEST use of time.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Ed; My msg was sent to sales@exotics etc., so whenever you get around to answering it. All in good time!

I don't mind calling, if that's easier for you!

I just looked up your email, Mack. Came in about this time, yesterday.

In order to accurately answer, I will need to pack a box with the pen boxes, count them and weigh them, then look up the NEW postage rates. Then put the boxes back into their bins --- in total this is about a 20 minute process.

Quick answer: The postal system shows the large flat rate box is 12 x 12 x 5.5 interior dimensions. That costs $55.75 since Sunday. The pen boxes are 6 x 1.75 x .875, as shown on Exotics. So they will not fit on end (6>5.5), but .875 will fit in 12", yielding 13 in a row, two rows across the 12" box==26 per layer. 5.5/1.75=3.14, so we have three layers---so roughly 3x26=78 boxes leaving room at the top for the inserts.

This means each box will cost an additional 80 cents or so, for postage. We have restocked the single elastic inserts---thank you for mentioning that we were out of them on the site.

This is one of our most frequently asked questions for international customers. "How much 'stuff' will fit into the box"?? Unfortunately, figuring it out is not a "two minute task" and usually the customer decides against ordering because shipping costs are prohibitive. So, I admit it is a question I often delay answering.

Hope this helps>

Only in a sense that he developed a more successful business.

I don't think I'd change places with him myself...amassing a great deal of worldly wealth was never high on my agends. I think I've seen and done a number of things that he can only dream about....

I had twice as many children as he has and I saw all of my children (in their professional life) exceed my own success - I doubt that he will ever experience that satisfaction.

I sat down at a table for a holiday meal where almost everything we were feasting on came from our own efforts - we raised the turkey, we grew the potatoes, we grew the green beans, we raised from a calf and milked the cow that provided the milk, we picked the apples from our own trees and we raised the pumpkins that went into the pies....5 gets you 10 he can never feel that satisfaction.

I had the time to watch my 6 children grow up, I saw them in sports, 4-H, cub scouts, active in all aspects of school. I wonder if he has the time for that or if he can go where his kids are without becoming the center of attention and taking their spot in the limelight.

I'd also venture a bet that I had a heck of a lot more fun when I was a kid, just based on when he was born (while I was in Navy boot camp) and when I was born. Even with WWII occuring for 4 years of my childhood, there were just a lot of things we could do that he wouldn't have been allowed.
