How Thin Can You Make the Cap?

Some of the kitless pen designs that have the cap flush with the body need to have the threaded portion of the cap very thin to keep the section properly proportioned (Eg. Edison Mina).

Just how thin can you make the wall without it being too thin? 1.5mm? 1mm?

Using M12 x .8 threads, I have been as small as 13.2mm diameter. This is pushing it IMO. I would not want to go any thinner. That's about .6MM walls, not counting threads

I just re-measured that pen. It is 13.8, not 13.2. 1mm walls seems like a reasonable lower bound

hmmm, on a 12mm tap the smallest Ive taken my wooden pens is 14.2 subtract the 12mm threads and that leaves 2.2 /2=1.1 mm(.043)on each side. They break if you put them in your front pants pocket and sit down. damhikt. I may have to try a little harder.

very thin - this one is a wormwood Mutt blank with a RP sleave
timber OD is 14.7mm heading to 16mm this has a 14.2mm hole drilled into it to take the RP sleave - This intern is drilled 13mm (half way) and 12.5mm the reminder

The PR sleave is tapped using a M14x0.8mm tripple start thread

Curtainly wouldn't work it from the outside to the inside as discribed above
