What would you guys charge to pre-drill blanks?Slice them in half and drill them to 7mm or 9/32".It would be simple domestic woods walnut/maple/cherry nothing tricky like acrylics.Thanks,Victor

I guess maybe a buck-a-blank. If the buyer doesn't want to drill their own blanks, they ought to be willing to pay a dollar for you to do it.

I still cannot drill Dymondwood straight, I have tried everything and wasted so many blanks it is becoming embarrassing, so much so that I have stopped using Dymondwood, I would pay extra for pre-drilled blanks.
If they were drilled to a standard 7mm that would do, as it would give me a straight pilot hole for when bigger holes are required.

PSI Charges
PSI offers pre-drilled blanks 9/16" cut to length for slimlines ... they get from $11.95 to 18.95 for enough blanks to do 5 slimline pens. That's running $2.40 to $3.80 per blank. Looks like they're getting at least a dollar extra so it should be worth that.

Have you tried drilling them on your lathe? Works great for me.

I would start with a dollar per set of slimline blanks (just for the drilling). I know for just average blanks I can cut and drill them in a matter of seconds if I am doing a batch of them. Repetitive motin and you can really get going fast. I can drill enough blanks for 100 slimline in about 30 min or so. So if there is enough demand for them it would be a pretty good paying thing to do.

Hey Victor just shooting from the hip if you could pull 30 blanks an hour, I would think at minimum 1.00 per blank. I know for myself if I had the option to get pre-drilled blanks I probably would go for it especially on the softer and / or nicer woods that I would be more concerned about blow-outs on before I even get it to the lathe.

Yes, even on my DVR xp they still won`t drill straight, may need newer `sharper` drill bits me finks, thanks for the tip though Tony!
