Just it of curiosity, how many pens do you have for your personel collection? And what is your favorite, and why is that your favorite?

I have 24. My favorite is a sterling Cambridge with a black and white striped acrylic blank, because I think it's my best work yet and I love the weight and way it writes.

My personal collection that I made? Or my personal collection of fountain pens?

That I made: My very first acrylic cigar pen. After 10 tens Its still going strong! I made a feather fountain pen I got a amhurst from Exotic . I put a very high price on the Jr. Gentlemen and my 2nd show a wife bought it for $550.

My personal collection of fountain pens I have a fountain pen my grandfather used in his leather-shop. I have actual seen him use it when writing recipes. back in the 60's I'm in the process of doing a major overhaul with the pen.

Somewhere between not enough and too many?

Actually I don't have too many (yet)... A couple of PITH pens, a few I made my self, and my 1 big name FP. The big name limited edition is my favorite overall because of its gift status and its uniqueness.

My PERSONAL "collection"? Hmmm. I have a Vertex that is my daily user. I did it in Zircote and I love it. I also have a fountain pen (a green acrylic Waterman) that LOML gave me years ago that I used every day before I retired. It's kind of relegated to occasional use now. But that's about it. When something turns out wonderful, I look to get it into a user's hand ASAP so they can enjoy it like I do my Vertex.

(Don't tell anybody, but I'm known to "test drive" a pen for a while to make sure it's OK - purely for quality control reasons, of course)

I am afraid to count at this point. Turned pens in our posession that will never be sold are probably around 15 with two more on the way. As for vintage, we won't go there, I don't hink the Mrs really knows nor do we want to count. Needless to say we are currently looking for an antique type cabinet to convert for pen storage.

A few

In my personal collection, I have right now 38 - I turned one of them. I have a couple that are about equal as favorites because they are so handsome and write so well. Others are favorites because they bring oohs and aahs when folks see them. But all of them were turned by IAP members so they're all favorites.

Don't forget, you have two more in the mail

Myself, I think I have about forty on hand.

I have about 20 finished pens which is really low after Christmas. I have a Gatsby twist made with Jobillo and my name in a decal for daily use. Although I have 50+ pen kits that I still have to make into pens. Maybe I have bought too many kits but at least I always have something to work on.

I have close to 70 pens: they are beautiful, they just need to be assembled, and there is some waste on the blanks that I need to remove.
aside from that cabinet, roaming around the house I have some 10-15 pens that I screwed up in one way or another.

I also have a case with about 20 turned pens which officially are for sale, but I don't see myself parting from them: I show them to friends and costumers, but but I'd rather make a similar one than giving one away.

I am actually considering starting a small collections of brand name pens, mainly because I'd like to study them and compare them to my own, and in fact I bought a fountain pen collector book just this week. but the high price of the pens I really like is slowing me down...

I have only 1 of mine that I keep. It is a closed end Sedona in Ziricote that I did scallops on. It took a while to find the flaw in it so I could keep it.

The rest I have are all PITH pens. I like to get one someone has put there best in and on the other side I like to do the same for them.

My personal collection that I don't sell, I have two that were the first ones I made and still use... not all that pretty, but practical... I also have a number in my collection - maybe a dozen or so - that I got in IAP Pen Swaps that are all too pretty to use... I have intended for a couple of years to develop some sort of display cabinet for them, but haven't yet...

OK...This is going to be somewhat geeky, absurd, and embarrassing..but here goes:

Pens that I have made that I haven't given away as gifts: Around 270

Favorite is a two tone Amboyna Burl on Majestic Components.

Pens that I have purchased from IAP members or received through PITH:
9

Favorite is a Black and Red Ebonite Fountain pen made by Justin (Timebandit) which is my daily writer.

Fountain Pens that I have collected: About 75..most of which are Limited Editions..Owners Clubs..and the rest are Vintage.

Favorites are a Delta Dolce Vita Oro Fountain Pen with Gold Trim and a
David Oscarson Tree of Life Fountain Pen.

Pens from Drug Companies and sales reps that I refuse to accept: Lost Count at a 1000. Actually that's not quite true..I did once accept a Viagra pen that was shaped like a ....... Never mind.

I have about 25 pens and my fav is the last one I made, until the next. I still find it hard to sell or give away one of my babies......

Made: thousands

Kept for myself: 1-2 (Sedona, corian, fountain pen with kit nib = favorite)
Non-created: 10-20 various Reform, Waterman, various cheap FPs ... some nice, some demonstrator, some plastic

For myself, on my desk at work, I have a rotation of about 10 rollerballs, and I keep four or five on the desk in a wooden pen cup. Swapping them around when I get bored of the selection.
For keepers, all from PITH or trades, I would guess 12 - 18.
My wife has nearly 100, all made by me, and she even uses a few regularly.
haha

Intentionally collected (PITH, SWAPS, Gifts) about a dozen

Unintentionally collected (not quite good enough to sell): about three IAP mugs full!

I aint sayin but more than most! Okay I am a pen hoarder, I may have to start going to pen-aholics anonymous! Favorite is a sodalite tru-stone & copper baron, or a birdseye sheoak & copper baron.

My personal collection is only 4 any my favorite of the bunch is an Apollo Infinity FP with Honduras Rosewood body and Gold TN plating. I kept it because of a glue-up mistake and the top of the cap didn't get all the say on before the CA glue set up (I know not to use thin CA for this in the future, lol).

ETA: It's my favorite because I like the feel of a bigger pen, yet this one's not to heavy for extended writing sessions. And the section is metal with a rounded edge instead of squared off plastic like other similarly sized pens. Just a comfortable pen for a medium sized hand.
