Here is a pen made in a herringbone pattern of satinwood that I might like to try to copy but at least I would like to understand how it is made. Can anyone help? I don't have a clue where to start.
Thanks....http://www.graf-von-faber-castell.com/ called pen of the year.

I'm not sure that process would work for this pen. From the PO's picture, it looks like it may be a 360º herringbone.

I can't think of how to make that without either cutting 80 something strangely angled pieces, or turning the blanks whole first (drilled, but without tubes), lasering them into pieces, and gluing them back together around tubes (basically how I envision making the 'puzzle' pen).
