I needed a mortar and pestle to grind up something into a fine powder so I thought that I would turn something real quick, after all it should not be that difficult. I wanted a hard wood and remembered this chunk of wood that seemed pretty hard the last time I messed with it. I first dulled and stretched my electric chainsaw blade trying to cut it to length. I then broke my bandsaw blade when trying to rough out a circle. My gouges now need a good sharpening. I do not know what this stuff is but it is the hardest wood that I have messed with. I finally got a functional mortar and pestle made but it was a much harder project than I anticipated. Why do my "easy" projects turn out to not be easy?
