How do you sharpen turning tools

I was taught by Mike Mahoney himself, he taught me the way to do it on a stationary bench grinder as well as the best angles used for just about any application! The best information is throught experience so if you get the chance, swing by a demonstration in your area or get ahold of someone on the forums!

There are many ways. I used freehand until I got a Wolverine system and will never go back.

Homemade V-jig (like Wolverine) on a 6" grinder for roughing gouges. I free hand my bowl gouges (standard grind and fingernail).

I use a slow speed Jet wet knock off of the Tormek with Tormek jigs,and a slow speed grinder with a wolverine for quick touch ups.

i freehand on a slow speed grinder from woodcraft. It has the white and grey wheels for sharpening.
