I turned one of Curtis' texas catus juice blanks. When I inserted the transmission (slimline) I chiped a piece off. I can't find it to put it back on. Was thinking of sometype of centerband. I know the slimline won't work. What is the next size up?

There's a lot of "wiggle" room on a slim, if you can get 3/4 of the brass part on the refill in the tube you should be OK. I guess what I'm saying is you can shorten the bottom barrel quite a bit.

Mike; A Comfort centerband is a bit larger than the slimline CB. I will fit a 7mm transmission.

As Rick says, there is a lot of opportunity for design improvement.

Curtis warrants his blanks, even if the damage was your fault, not due to a faulty blank. As I recall, if you contact him and tell him that you messed it up he will replace it at 1/2 price plus shipping.

Three options I can think of.

1. Use a center band from an existing component set. Comfort, streamline (Toni twist) etc.
2. Create your own center band from Corian, contrasting wood, acrylic or even aluminum/copper. (You can buy bar stock at Grainger)
3. Part off the damaged portion, creating a tenon. Glue a contrasting piece onto the tube (after first squaring it).
