Well my big indicator was when I realized that I wax my WW machines (notice I didn't tools) more often than my cars. I used to race cars and kept great care of all of them. Now my truck gets ran through the auto wash every few times I fill up.

I've got pretty much everything to sustain life in my "shop"...fridge, TV, stereo, wood and machinery. Wife wishes I'd keep the rest of the house as clean as the shop area.[:D]

Hadn't really thought about it until I read this. I also wax my WW machines weekly, haven't wax a vehicle in years (my truck gets washed when it rains). The best stereo with satellite radio is in the shop; along with fridge, coffee maker, and microwaves (one for food, one for drying wood). I buy several WW magazines every month from Books-A-Million and couldn't even tell you if they carry Playboy. Spent a small fortuen upgrading my wife's sewing machine so she could make me a new turning smock.

I think the real sign was that I can't think of a single Birthday/Father's Day/Christmas gift that didn't have something to do with the shop, I'm sure I got some but can't think of any. [;)] And now I am sitting at work with a dozen things I have to get done today, but I am on a WW forum! [:)]

I think I realized it recently when I was back at my parents for Christmas and we went over to someone's house that my dad works with. I hadn't ever seen their new house and to start the tour, we went to the basement to see the shop! I was more interested in that than seeing the rest of the house (and actually never DID see the rest of the house)! I was actually able to participate in the conversation with my dad and his male friend, and I realized I had things to contribute to the conversation and had some stuff in my shop that they didn't. Then my dad asked me if I would have thought 5 years ago that I would be talking about "my shop". That would have sounded like a total ridiculous joke 5 years ago!

This was reinforced last weekend, when a male person was at my house and I showed him my shop, and he seemed almost disinterested! I was almost offended that he wasn't as excited about my DC and grinder as I was! And he didn't seem to want to hear about my plans to buy a bandsaw. What kind of a man was he that I was feeling more manly than him?!!? [:D][:D] (But I still consider myself girly [:X][:X] manly!

<br />This is almost sacreligious, but I tend to keep my equipment cleaner than my Harley.[:0]

Here's one for you from a fellow rider.

What's the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The Hoover has the dirtbag on the inside.[xx(]

Tough choice tomorrow - turn or ride.

...Another rider here. Mid to upper 40's is about warm enough for me... Maybe ride a bit in the afternoon and do some turnin' tonight[;)]

Oh, that's a bad example of committment to woodworking! Probably one of the best examples though! But from the wife's perspective, probably one of the worst demonstrations of dedication to wood! Brings to mind all sorts of euphemisms for turning tools...[;)][;)]

A friend of my dad's, apparently in the reverse situation of not getting enough action, refers to "sublimating with wood" to make up for deficit areas! [:p][:p]

One of the advantages of being single I guess- no one to compete with the wood for attention, and no one complaining if you get tied up in doing woodworking for an evening/weekend/week/month! [:D]
