Just heard on the news that there is severe flooding in Tennessee. Nashville is flooded and lots of other places. How is everyone doing? Let us know how you all are doing? Ken (bitshird) and others are you okay?

I have 2 daughters in Nashville. One is without power and high and dry and my eldest has a couple of feet of water in her basement. Things are reallly bad in the whole middle Tn. area. Prayers to all affected.

We are all pretty much at a standstill here. All the schools in Middle Tennessee are closed. Vanderbilt Hospital did some evacuation. Interstates were closed. Train tracks were warped. Oprylans Hotel had to evacuate 2000 people. The Cumberland River is at street level, which is almost 59 feet above normal. The Harpeth Rivers is at 45 feet. Flood stage is 22 feet. Cars are strewn all over the place. Water supply in some areas has been compromised. I could go on. Keep us in your prayers.

Nice thing about east Tennessee... we have all these hills that we can set our houses on... no problem with flooding... the rains did keep us awake half the night pounding on the skylight in the bathroom and all the lightning flashes, but we're about 10 feet above the road and the hill behind the house drains well and off to one side of the house. We did have a flow through the car port which is free standing and about 6 feet from the house. When the drive and carport were graded and graveled, they didn't get the slope just right so we get some standing water in the car park and under the storage area of the carport. Yesterday our biggest problem was the wind... it blew all day long in heavy gusts... I have a 2 ft diameter oak that's dead behind my shop and worry about it getting blown over onto the shop.

Tornado tore up things around us, one came within a 1/4 mile of us but all we got was a massive amount of rain, Lots of wood on the ground, thousands of board feet of Oak, Gum Cedar and some soft maple, lost power for about 9 hours, but otherwise made it with no ill effects other than a ruined garden

I live in Bellevue (southwestern portion of Nashville). This area has been decimated. Me and mine have been lucky as we live on high ground. The entrance to my subdivision has been flooded as were about 25 houses in the low areas. Power has now been restored, water has receeded, and clean up is beginning. Thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

My prayers are with you all.

I grew up in Antioch, not very far from Lighthouse Christian School - I was SHOCKED while watching the video of their building floating away. Makes me wonder if my old house was totally submerged!??!!

What terrible devastation.

Darci,
Antioch was one of the hardest hit areas. Mill creek went crazy. The Opryland hotel had anywhere from 6 to 8 feet of water on the first floor. Water from the Cumberland has come up to about 4th and Broad downtown. The arena where the predators play and the big concerts are has water covering the ice rink not to mention the basement where the equipment and electronics are. Thanks for caring

We drove through the area on 78 over the holiday, wow, looks like it was mowed down with a giant weedwhacker.

The weather is gone mad this year. We are flooded too, all the farms have no crops and its getting too late to plant. I'm getting worried about food prices

Jeff there are fields being turned and planted, that haven't been planted in at least 10 years, mostly Soy beans, and Cotton. There's still another 10 days or so to get stuff in the ground down here, now if they can luck out on the mid July hail storms the farmers may catch a break this year, (if it doesn't dry up like the last two years)

When I first started reading this post, I thought maybe you knew something I didn't know... we did a show at Crossville this weekend and cooked.... wasn't really all that hot.. about 90 deg, but our booth was out in the sunshine with little shade... but then I went back and checked the dates... I'm at the far east end of the state, almost in North Carolina... most of the time the rain has blown north and bypassed us.... it did rain a little the first of the month... no much where we are though.... may have to get the hose out to water the garden...
