I've seen post where some made their own friction polish. I've been wanting to try the Turners magic which is a lacquer base friction polish. Somewhere I also saw where you could mix equal parts of lacquer, lacquer thinner, and boiled linseed oil to make something similar. Anyone done this? Am I risking getting a visit from Homeland Security? [B)]

I've used it for years as a 'down-and-dirty' sealer. The BLO pops the grain of otherwise bland wood and the sealer sets the stage for a 'real' finish. BTW, I mix 2 parts lacquer, 2 parts BLO and 1 part thinner.

I made basically the same mixture a hew years ago from the information posted on RUss Fairfield's site. While it is better than the shellac based stuff, I've taken to using primarily lacquer or CA/BLO. My preference is lacquer.
