This is a DuraClick kit wrapped in Stabilized Redwood Burl. I wondered about turning this one but it was highly figured which I thought would show well.
However, the dark spots were porous but I thought thin CA would fix that. I have never put that much CA on a blank before but it just kept sucking it up which made me wonder if it was hollow!

Most redwood burl I've worked with is soft and porous. Often it is best to stabilize it before turning. So, I will guess the blank was sucking up the glue in the pores.

Beautiful pen!

Redwood is pretty soft so it always seems to soak up a bunch of CA.

I have some unstabilized Redwood burl blanks I want to turn but probably should stabilize first.
