I'm recently retired from 40 years in the military as a photographer :usflag:

I love working with wood and doing anything artistic

Accidently fell into pen turning by visiting a local Rocklers

I've been turning pens for few months and made most of our Christmas presents

Now I'm trying to expand my abilities into more creative styles

Also starting a few bowls

Looking forward to seeing what others are doing

Welcome from Indiana!

Your story sounds a lot like mine (except I'm not in the military or retired). I saw my first pen making demo at a local Rockler also and started my journey several months later as I gathered the needed parts to do so on a Shopsmith I already had. I've branched into some bowl turning as well, and I'm relearning photography in todays digital form, pulling from dormant brain cells of my 35mm photography hobby from the early 80s.

Hope to see some of you work and share some stories, so again Welcome!

Welcome Dennis, from west Kentucky. Be sure and give the library a good look. The link is found in the upper right of the page.

I thought you may be from Michigan when you added an "S" to Rockler. We here in Michigan add that to everything, ie; KMarts, Meijers, Rocklers, Sears (oops, that DOES have an "S" anyway) but you get the idea. Welcome from the mitten.
