I got together w/ my 2 brothers earlier in the year and it was decided that we were putting on some extra pounds (kg's for the international folks) and we needed to do something about it. We live in 3 different cities, spread over several hundred miles. We got together in June and did a 5k race. After the race, we decided to step it up a notch.

Yesterday, we did rode the 25 mile race in the Hotter 'n Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls, Tx. If you know anything about Texas, you know why it was named that. The last number I heard was about 13,700 riders in all. It was 40 minutes from the starting gun before we moved. We rode it in about 2.5 hours....not to bad for a couple of middle age, non-racers.

The photo is the first rest stop at about 8 miles....people as far as the eye can see. We are talking about doing the 50 mile race next year. Wanna come?

I did the H'n'H Century when I was living in Dallas a lifetime ago.
100 miles in about 5 hours including two stops.
Hot, hot, hot and hot. That's most of what I remember of that ride.
Congratulations!

Go down to Big Bend and ride the loop from Ft. Davis around the Davis mountains. It'll give you a new respect for the "Texas Alps". Oh yah, it's 78 miles. ALL of it uphill.

Thanks for visiting my town, well, not my town, but the town i live in. One of these years I should capitalize on the the race and come up with a design for a pen that has to do with the race. Anyway, congrats!!!

Well there's the :
Devil Mountain Double Century

205 miles with 18,000 feet of elevation gain* It's starts on the Eastern Side of the Sierra Nevada Mts by Mono Lake and crosses the Sierras twice. I know one man who has rode it 25 times.

I personally have not rode this century.(2) It was called the Death Century for several years.

I think I will keep it under a hundred for a while....but we did discuss it.

Seamus, I grew up there and still have family there.

Gary, we got a break on the temp this year.....but it was still hot.
