I think he's looking at it from more of a coolness factor. It is for all intents, pretty dang sweet.

Yeah, it'll cost some cash to put a LED, a resistor, a battery and it's pretty easy to work a switch into that.

With that said, it's not hard nor is it costly to get those nowadays and the the cost and the increasing ability to come across those are getting better and better all the time.

Now, to reference it from your point, yeah, it's going to take a lot of units to get it down to that price, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

What it makes up for in sales through advertisement whether through sites, or word of mouth, will probably make up for that cost. After all, that's what they're in it for. I could very well be wrong, but, I think they might have stumbled onto something that we as penturners, will have a use for.

I've been known to be wrong many times before and I may very well be wrong about this, but just the coolness of it, has my interest piqued.

It is $2.50 for the first 50 and drops off very slowly I agree but even for $2.50 are you going to make a pen that inexpensive??? It is the idea that I was actually elluding to. Have never seen one done here. We need more innovation on this site. Just trying to spark some new ideas here. Many other things you could do with that idea like making logos or scenes or even accent pieces. I read all about those people and if you look it is one of the longest running threads about Chineses lasers. And yet I see nothing come across here that has not been done over and over. Take those lasers for a ride and lets see something new. :smile:

minor nitpick on word usage... I hope you don't mind, John, it's just one of my pet peeves. :)

Illusion: an image or figure that is not actually there ... a mirage is an illusion

Allusion: an idea or ideal that you are leading someone towards understanding

Eluding: the act of evading or avoiding capture. An escaped criminal is one that has eluded authorities.

The one you wanted is in the middle ... :redface:



Oh, and about the pens .... I suppose they click on when you click them to extend the refill and then click back off again when you retract? I'm assuming that there is a pretty large minimum for ordering, if you want them to tool up for your particular business needs... perhaps we should ask Jeff and see if he'll order a bunch as a group buy and slap the IAP logo on them, and offer them through the site store?
