Help what kind of burl

A friend of mine recently gave me these two burl slabs. they were not marked when he bought them. I have dampened them to show the grain. any idea what they are?

I'm no expert, but the #1 looks like a curly maple and #2 looks like a Brown Mallee, but i'm just taking a stab at it.

Writeitdown's guess was on dot! Unless they're local/domestics.

1 is hard maple, 2 may either be maple or box elder but guessing maple.

Both very likely maple of some kind , possibly big leaf .

I'd guess hard maple on the left and big leaf maple on the right.

They are both Maple. The first is Curly Maple/burl and the second is a Maple Burl. The spalting signs are a sure tell tale sign. I have lots of this stuff in my shop.
