Anyone know what this is?
Really dense hardwood came in a random cut off bag, I have a few more that turn extremely nice but can't seem to find anything pertaining to the highlighter like dust it throws off.

It could be osage. It turns brown like that overtime. The dust looks yellow. At least that's my experience when making bows with that wood.

Could be Maclura pomifera, Bodark, Osage Orange or even Hedge Apple. Especially since they are all the same, but I am seeing a trend here. [emoji16]

Maybe an advantage of having lived in both Texas and multiple parts of Indiana.

I have some Ipe that looks quite similar. The stuff that I have came from a decking sample. WoodDatabase also refers to "powdery yellow deposits": https://www.wood-database.com/ipe/ . There are many species under the name Ipe, so getting good direct comparisons is difficult, lots of variety.
