Most of us are aware that John was struck by an SUV a few weeks ago and, sustained some pretty bad injuries. The medical bills are already coming in. John is now selling some of his personal stash of kits and, blanks, along with his normal production items. I ordered some things from him thinking, it will be awhile before I received them. But, NO, they were shipped immediately as always, thanks to Johns wonderful wife and, kids. Thanks John! I just thought I would mention this here because I know there are alot of great people that, need items and, are always willing to help a member out. You can check it out at www.penturnersproducts.com look for specials in the column on the left. Thanks for any consideration.

Good suggestion, Chuck! John isn't looking for a handout. He's not one of those guys that suddenly blows into IAP and then starts asking for "donations to help a poor penturner".

Johnnycnc has always been an important part of the IAP community. (Interestingly enough, John and I officially joined IAP at the same time back in 2006.)

I just placed an order with him earlier in the week.

Thanks for the reminder, Chuck. I have been meaning to pick up a few bushing sets, and I just did.

I would think that the driver of the SUV that hit him would be responsible for medical bills and would hope that he has insurance through his regular job. Either way I for one would be willing to help him in any way I could, just not sure how we might do it.

Could the IAP establish some kind of fund for him and allow us to use the donation button and everyone could chip in (if they wanted to and could afford to do so) and the IAP could send it to him.

He is absolutely one of my top favorites on the forums. I sent him a get well basket from Harry and David over the holidays. Anything that I ever need I order from him if he has it. He is always great!!!!!

Just some thoughts.

I'm glad you posted this. I was going to place an order a couple weeks ago but wasn't sure if it would be gotten to. Now that I know I can go ahead and place my order. You can't beat his bushings sets. It's the only way to turn. I want to try out the pepper mill bushings and see how they work now. I think I own about one set of each bushings set he has produced. They are great investments.

Peter, I'm not speaking for John. But, you're right, the driver of the SUV should be responsible for the bills and, other expenses. The problem IS, that before anything is settled, Johns credit will be severely damaged from bill collection. And, as has been said, john WILL NOT seek out handouts. He does have lots of stuff for sale. Thanks for yours and, everyones participation. I had goose bumps when I read these posts. You all are what I've always known you to be. Just great people.

Fellow Members:
Johnny is one of my favorite people and we have done a lot of business together. Every style of pen I turn is on Johnny's bushings. I would love to donate a cash amount to a fund for John. If someone would be willing to set it up and administer it, I think everyone would want to help as much as they can. I know for sure I would. Johnny is one of us, and somehow we have to be able to help out each in times of need or disaster. Please keep me posted on this.
Thank you,
Clyde

Chuck,
Thanks so much for posting this and thinking of me!
I really appreciate you, and glad you got the order quickly :)

A big Thank you to everyone who has ordered and helped me out right now, it has made a difference..believe me.
I really appreciate each and every one of you!!!!

Can't go into a ton of details here in the open, on legal counsel, but please rest assured that the Goodin family is doing ok.
I think I have about passed out today from seeing this thread and the support you all are so kind and gracious to offer! What an awesome community, and great people to be with!!

We are meeting finances right now, so I'd not really feel right about taking anything
although it is surely appreciated.
There was a huge amount of support and help in '08 when we lost it all in the flood,
and I feel like I still owe you all as a group for the kindness shown there that I can never hope to repay.
So, whatever you can help me out with in purchasing from my site is more than enough, and will never be forgotten.

Thanks to all, I'm humbled and at the same time proud to be part of this group.

Peter,
That gift basket really made my day! I know I thanked you privately, but here's my chance to say Thanks in public!
Thank You!!
you're great in my book.

While I'm Thanking special folks..
There was a beautiful turning tool sent from north of our border,
I hope to use it shortly after I recover and get back on the lathe.
Thank You, Charles !!

One more thing, while I'm post happy..
I have gotten more emails, pm's and support, well wishes and thinking of you's than I could ever imagine.
Thanks to everyone who has taken time to check on me!

(And in contrast, the bunch I work with/ work for..not even a get well card.
a few of the guys called me, but not so much as a card.
I even got a call one week after it happened, asking if I could program from home...that is sick.:frown:)

So, I know where my friends are at. Thanks!!

Great Idea! I just placed my order. John, I'll need more of the Daytona calipers, too! They are the best I have used. I'll also be making another order when you get more eliminator bushings.

Glad to help out John. You deserve some help. Hope you keep busy for awhile. Might help keep your mind off the pain. Thanks for all you've done for US.

Johnny;
You owe us nothing my friend. We should all do what we can to help each other in times of need. After all, that's what the premise this country was built on. Before the advent of the "What's in for me attitude" if your barn burned down, everyone pitched in and helped build you a new one. If you got down or sick, people pitched in and helped plant or harvest your crops for you, brought you food and tended to livestock. That's what neighbors were for, leaning on each other and helping out where needed. That was good 150 years ago and should still be today. I still am in favor of starting a fund, to help out anyone who illness or disaster may befall. If everyone just donated a dollar, that would be a temendous help in itself.
BTW Johnny: I've entered you and Curtis in the Iron Man Triathlon tomorrow. I wish you both the very best LOL. Take care my friend.

I just found this post as soon as I got home, took a look and found that Johnny's stash is pretty well cleaned out!! Missed that one. BUT, I for one am glad to hear that things are going ok for you John, all things considered. Rest easy!!

"I even got a call one week after it happened, asking if I could program from home...that is sick."

Heck, seems like they may want to keep you from forgetting how to do the programming.

Here's to getting better really quick ... OK, three shots later and I am beginning to remember what I was doing ... oh yea, looking through your goodies again!

Johnny,
I am up to speed on everything, except the "Princess" bushings we talked about before. I will need steel and delrin whenever you are able to work again. Did I hear someone mention Cherry Cheesecake? I'm down for that for sure. Take care my friend,
Clyde

I want to say Thank You all so much..you folks are the best!
All the support has truly been appreciated, and I'm in your debt.
