Just visited the site for the first time 3 days ago, so I joined yesterday.
I've lived in AK for 14 years (most of my life) and I've been turning pens for 2 years now. I'm relatively new to the pen world, so I expect a lot of tips from you older, more experienced turners!!
As I live in AK, I enjoy working with unique Alaskan materials such as moose and caribou antler and fossilized woolly mammoth bone.
I've already learned some things from this site, and I'm excited to keep on learning from the rest of you!!

Welcome Silas!
I was in Nome this past March. Beautiful state you have. I was able to get some of those materials you spoke of while there. And I too like working with them very much.

There are a few others from Alaska that hang out here from time to time -

Welcome

How far from Kenai are you I have family there?

We live about 65 miles south of Kenai, which in AK terms (think BIG), is pretty close. We usually go up to Kenai once every couple of months for shopping as things are cheaper up there. It's a beautiful place, and world famous for it's 70 lb king salmon!

Welcome from South Carolina. I have seen some of your great state in the winter. I would love to see it in the summer.
