I'm in need of at least two Australian Hairy Oak pen blanks. Working an order and managed to mess the one I had left. Need soonest or would just order from George at Timberbits.

G'day mate,

I just wanted to first rectify something, if the George you are referring to is me, I'm not from Timberbits but George's Bits of Timber.

Secondly, I don't have listed the Australian Hairy-Oak which is identical to my #14 She/Bull-Oak but is not the true Hairy-Oak.

I know where I can get you some but that would take a little time, one week to get to me and 2 weeks to get to you so that may be out of the question for you.

I will be more than happy to get you a few blanks, just let me know.

The third option is to find someone on IAP and from the USA that has purchased some #14 blanks from me and spare you a couple, as I said, they are identical but not the same.

Hi Vic,

If #14 is OK with you and you are handy with a bandsaw, I suspect I got you covered. I have a block from George that I am perfectly happy to see used. It does have cracks that you will need to work around while cutting the blanks; or use some inlay material. You should easily get 4-6 blanks off of it. It is a live edge, but about 7" x 3" x 3". Id rather send the block and you can play with the grain you want. Should have some beautiful patterns.

Can be in the mail AM on the 26'th.

Thanks, Mark for coming forward with it, I totally forgot I have sent you a chunk of my #14.

There are some settle differences between the "rays" of these 2 species but you need to know what you are looking for to sometimes spot the differences.

Is it the best match...? possibly...!:biggrin:

Thanks for providing here my list of the timbers I "represent" in a way, the best match is the #14 but sometimes I get some of the #82 Rock-Oak that look also similar, the #14, #49 and #82 are all relatives and so is the Hairy-Oak, there is one other that is also a relative and that I particularly like, I don't have any for sale (only a handful of blanks I purchased), I'm talking about the Forest Oak Forest Oak.jpg

Other relatives that I also don't have are the Lace She-Oak Lace She-Oak.jpg and finally the hairy-Oak Hairy-Oak.jpg

All very beautiful...!

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise! Was in the shower this morning and heard a truck come up the drive. The wife had ordered another 2 cords of firewood and figured it was him.

As I was getting out the wife came in wavy a box and saying "special delivery". Turns out the USPS was 2 days ahead of schedule. :eek: Your package got here early.
